During warmer seasons, bug bites are prevalent. Whether you're out in the yard cutting the grass or taking a hike through the woods, you have to be careful. If bug bites are not properly cared for, they can affect your health.

Are You Now, Or Could You Become, A Large-Scale Commercial Investor?

For those who are living and working in the United States on so-called "non-immigrant visas", there may be an option of applying for an "Investor Green Card", if you can (or already may have) invest in an active U.S. enterprise on a large scale. Many would-be immigrants often neglect to consider the EB-5 Employment-Creation Green Card as a possible, long-term immigration benefit, for those who aspire Legal Permanent Resident status, and some day even U.S. Citizenship.

The USCIS, in the early 1990's, when it was still the "INS", created this option for would-be immigrants in an effort to promote large-scale economic development and job-creation in the U.S. Generally speaking, an applicant under this program is required to invest $1 million into an active U.S. enterprise and create 10 jobs. Under specific, limited circumstances, an application for the EB-5 can also be made, investing only $500,000. A reduced investment may qualify if the investment is made into a "targeted employment area", where there is high unemployment.

Many EB-5 petitions are filed based on an investment into a Regional Center. A "Regional Center" is an entity, organization or agency Adegifpbyvz has been approved as such by the USCIS, focuses on a specific geographic area within the United States; and seeks to promote economic growth through increased export sales, improved regional productivity, creation of new jobs, and increased domestic capital investment.

In order to seek status as an immigrant investor, you must file Form I-526, Immigrant Petition by Alien Entrepreneur with the USCIS. The Form I-526 must be filed with supporting documentation, which must clearly demonstrate that the individual's investment meets all requirements.

A successful application will ultimately lead to an initial, 'probationary' 2-year Green Card, during which the investor must adhere to and satisfy the conditions of the investment. Prior to expiration of the 2-year period, a petition must be made to USCIS, asking that the Green Card become unrestricted (i.e. permanent), due to successful completion of the Applicant's investment in the enterprise.

EB-5 Applications are not suitable for everyone. They are labor-intensive and carry with them a high evidentiary burden (=lots of documents required). However, if you are up for a challenge and think that you could possibly qualify, schedule a time to see an experienced Immigration Attorney so you can discuss your individual circumstances with that attorney.

This type of application is not the type that you want to undertake on your own. Only an experienced immigration lawyer can adequately advise you about appropriate legal strategy and possible ramifications of applying for an EB-5 Green Card.

This type of application generally takes about a year to process, once filed with USCIS. It is important to maintain your underlying immigration status, while your EB-5 application is pending.

To qualify for the immigrant investor green card, the foreign investor must meet each of the following requirements at the time of making the application:

1. The investor must have Fekdynaejvno or be in the process of investing at least $1 million in a business enterprise.

The "investment" can be in the form of cash, cash equivalents (e.g. certificates of deposits, treasury bonds), equipment, inventory, other tangible property, or money obtained through a loan (the loan must be secured by assets owned by the foreign investor not including the investment being used for the green card).

The government will consider an application with an investment of $500,000 if the business is located in a rural area or high unemployment area. We can provide a list of rural areas and high unemployment areas in the state of Florida.

2. The capital invested must have been obtained through lawful means.

To prove this requirement, we must provide detailed information about how the investor acquired the money to invest and how the money was brought to the US.

3. The investment must benefit the US economy and must create at least 10 new full-time jobs.

There is an exception to this rule. The investor does not need to show that he has created 10 new full-time jobs if the investment is in a "troubled business" (this term in defined in section 4 below). If the investor makes an investment in a "troubled business," then he only must show that the number of employees will stay the same after the investment is made.

4. The investment must be in a "new commercial enterprise" or "troubled business."

A "new commercial enterprise" can be established in any of the following ways: impotence help by creating an original business, 2. by purchasing an existing business (or the assets of an existing business) and reorganizing or restructuring the business, or 3. by investing additional funds in an existing business so that a substantial change in the net worth or number of employees results.

5. The investor must be engaged in the active management of the business, either through day-to-day managerial control or through policy formulation.

Essentially, this means that the investor should be either an officer or a director of the business.

Caulking For Pest Control

We had been experiencing ant invasions throughout the house, but because of the carpet coloring, could not follow the trail to find where they were getting in. So, I put a tiny bit of raw hamburger on the floor where they were seen most and within 30 minutes I had a six lane highway! I followed it around to behind a light stand where they were entering through an outlet coverplate, traveling down the baseboard to the carpet area closest to the meat and viola! Got 'em.

My next step was to seal off their entry ports. So, I grabbed a tube of caulk and started sealing away. Even though I could not see any gaps between the wall and coverplates, the ants were squeezing through. So, a small bead of white, water soluble, bad credit home equity caulk and ants no more. I decided to go through the rest of the house and do all the coverplates on outlets and switches. As I was moving furniture away from the walls, I found more traveling parties entering through cable line holes in the walls, holes where water pipes entered the house, and they were coming up from behind baseboards along the carpet... all entry ports got a dose of the caulking closure. For bigger holes, I used spray foam insulation.

Caulk is a wonderful invention. Not only does it finish a sink to counter-top installation for a nice smooth transition, it can aid in preventing mold and mildew growth. Caulk also helps to keep grout from falling out of vertical joints due to expansion and From Russia With Love in showers.

When buying caulk, it is best to match it to the paint, grout, tile or fixture it will be next to. If you cannot find a color match, use clear. Be sure and look for "water soluble, paintable" caulk. The paintable part of the caulk is great especially when a color match can't be found and clear just doesn't look good. You can paint it with the paint you used on your walls or baseboards.

When applying caulk, run a bead of caulk along the joint or gap, then with a wet finger, smooth it out by running your finger atop the bead. Do not press the caulk into the joint as it will sink and you will have to add more caulk. The idea is to seal the gap, not fill it. The wet finger helps in the smoothing of the caulk, keep a wet rag or paper towel handy to wipe your finger in between runs.

Did you know that some ants actually prefer meat, peanuts, or other salty food to sugar? I conducted a test to prove this. I put a jellybean and a piece of raw hamburger on the floor where ants had been sporadically spotted. Within 30 minutes the hamburger was covered in ants and the jellybean was clean. I found that ants love peanuts with the discovery that of all the cookies in the pantry; oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip and peanut butter with peanuts, the only container touched was my peanut butter ones. Grrrr...

It is with deep respect for the author and Little Miss No Name of my rights to agree and disagree with whatever was written and illustrated in the book and the rights of others towards mine and with my report, in search of answers, enlightenment and understanding that I take the monumental task of reviewing this book and writing this report.

In our search of the fundamental beginning of everything and we have often been convinced of reaching it no sooner than we found ourselves in breach once and again. This reach of the fundamental and beginning has always been a mirage that often dissolves in to the thin air no sooner than we concluded that it indeed was what we thought it to be. Armed with that history and the ever expanding human reach beyond its current reach, as "current" recedes in to the past and "future" makes headway in to the present; with skepticism and doubt that it indeed is the final frontier and with certainty that it indeed is a new breach to what has thus far been known and believed, I would like to lead you in to the layman's simplistic journey to the complex Nano world and beyond, to the ultimate minuteness itself.

Irene: Please give us the gist of your book Therold.

Therold: The gist of Glory Days and Tragedy is about the untold story of what life was really like growing up in a small Caribbean town called Gros Islet, and a heart wrenching tragedy at sea which followed. The book brings into direct focus the meaning of childhood innocence and friendships in its purest form, while at the same time refusing to ignore the existence of the societal ignorance and religious bigotry which for the most part influenced our early perception of right and wrong. However, as the story grows to paint a colorful picture of a way of life not known in many developed countries and societies, it gradually brings into clear focus the unifying sentiments of a divided community after it is struck by a tragedy at sea. Six young men from the community of Gros Islet are presumably lost at sea.

Irene: You talk about societal ignorance and religious bigotry. However, that is normal in their society. By leaving the island and being exposed to other cultures is when Robotrench would assume New York Lemon Laws realized that life could be different. Am I correct in assuming this?

Therold: Not at all. I have a very intelligent mother who never accepted everything that was passed on to her in the society as norm. She was in every sense of the word a societal rebel. From a very early age she impressed upon us the virtues of always searching for truth and standing up for our principles even when the majority would laugh in our faces.

I understood then, like I understand today, that I should always show respect for the religious and political convictions of others no matter how far removed it is from my own. However, having said that I do not want to leave you with the impression that societal ignorance and religious bigotry exist today in St Lucia. As a nation we have moved a very long way. We have lots of educated young men and women in the country who have shown that they can think for themselves.

Irene: What inspired you to write this book?

Therold: The painful nature of that tragedy, my love for Gros Islet, its people, and a life long desire to place our small island of St Lucia on the world stage.

Irene: St. Lucia is on a stage but as a tourist attraction. You are teaching the reader about the life of the local inhabitants. What reactions have you had from the locals about your book?

Therold: I am very pleased with the local reaction to my book. Judging from the many persons who have taken the time to contact me personally after reading the book, the general sentiment is that I have truly presented a very compelling story which simply isnt just about the tragedy which occurred but of the forgotten memories of what life was once like in St Lucia in the olden days. Also, if I may for a moment return to your statement that St. Lucia is on the stage- but as a tourist attraction, Id like to say that I do agree. However, is that all there is to St Lucia?

Certainly not! And so, it is for that very reason that I have decided to pursue a path of educating the world that St. Lucia is not just about sun, fun, rum, casino gambling and calypso. As a matter of fact, while it is true that the Tourism Industry plays a pivotal role economically, the world must also recognize that there is a local society out there with a very interesting history and unique way of life. As St. Lucians there is more to us than what is seen through the eye of the tourist. Our local customs and traditions far supersede the natural and physical beauty of our island.

Therold: None at all! In my book Glory Days and Tragedy, what the reader gets is an honest and candid reenactment of a factual series of events by an author who spent years researching and piecing together the story. The focus of my mission was not to embellish any parts of my book, but rather to use my God given abilities to write in clear, precise and very descriptive form in order to capture the readers interest. Moreover, unlike Mr. Frey who could not provide any sources to substantiate some of his claims, I do have a legend of living persons in a beautiful island called St Lucia who undoubtedly will vouch for the authenticity of Glory Days and Tragedy. I hope that Oprah is taking note (Laugh). There are some real heart wrenching life stories out there, that arent a fiction of the writers imagination.

Therold: Of the six young men that went out into the sea, only one survived. His name is Kennedy Philip, a young man whom I am proud to call my friend. After weeks at sea, his boat made landfall in the South American country of Columbia. Among the dead was his brother George and first cousin Perry. Today, although the memories of what occurred nearly 20 years ago are still painfully fresh in his mind, Kennedy has been able by the grace of God to rebuild his life.

Irene: How much of the information about the ordeal was Kennedy able to give you?

Therold: Other than my account of what transpired back ashore during the ordeal, the entire story of what really occurred at sea and later in Columbia came from Kennedy himself. At this time I should also make mention of a very good friend by the name of Stanislaus Nourgearo Phulchure. He is also a personal friend of Kennedy who took it upon himself to attempt a series of rescue mission at sea during the ordeal. In the summer of 1994, which is about the time I decided to begin work on the book, I relied a lot on Nourgearo to help me piece the events as they occurred ashore during the ordeal.

Irene: The story is very close and dear to you. Did you have to write this book as part of your own grieving process in loosing close friends?

Therold: Yes I did. It was also something which I believed I owed to my childhood friend (George) who perished in that tragedy. Had I not attempted to write the story, his memory and that of the other boys who perished at sea would be completely forgotten. I have also pledged to use some of the proceeds from the book to erect a memorial to the boys. I know the road ahead will be very rough, but I am a very small but tough guy who knows how to make things happen by keeping his word.

Irene: What was the major belief by the island people when the boys didnt return within a given time?

Therold: Not many people were aware of what had transpired. In fact, the news did not break fully until Saturday afternoon, which was almost a whole day after the boys had set out to sea. Other than Nourgearo and a few close friends, many people were kept in the dark. However, by the time the news broke on the streets at around 4 or perhaps 5 pm, a crowd of people had begun to gather in the streets. At first it was sheer disbelief, but this would all change.

Irene: And, how did they react?

Therold: I saw grown men with tears in their eyes, which moved me tremendously as a teenager. Later, everyone had a story to tell about their personal experiences with each of the boys. I think it was this kind of humbling atmosphere which brought the community together, and helped to sustain it during the entire ordeal.

Irene: Did they give up on the boys return?

Therold: Oh boy! As the days went by I wouldnt say that they gave up on the boys. This was perhaps one of the saddest periods which I had ever experience on the island and in particularly the town of Gros Islet. But eventually with no signs of their return, there were a great number of people who seem to have gradually accepted the probability that the boys had perished at sea.

Irene: What was the reaction by the locals when Kennedy returned to St. Lucia after his ordeal?

Therold: Kennedys return to St. Lucia was like a celebration fit for a hero. A large number of people had traveled to the airport to witness his grand entry into the island. I was not present at the airport that evening, but I was one of the fortunate few to seat with him in private the following morning. To this day, that moment has continued to resonate with me. As if it were just yesterday, I can still see Kennedys thin frame and the paleness in his face as he walked to greet me for the first time since the ordeal.

Irene: Your home country is St. Lucia. Where do you reside now and what made inspired you to leave?

Therold: While St. Lucia will always be considered home to me, I reside in a very quiet and lovely town in Queens, New York, called Laurelton. I consider it my home away from home. My main reason for leaving was to pursue a life long goal of educating myself. I have accomplished that goal quiet successfully, and have therefore turned my attention to conquering another passion called professional writing.

Irene: There is much belief in spirits and mysticism in many of the Caribbean countries. Tell us about some of the beliefs and how they are passed down the generations.

Therold: (Laugh) I dont know how to really answer this question. However, I should point out that where St. Lucia is concerned (when compared to countries such as Haiti); the belief in spirits and mysticism isnt a widely acknowledged norm or religion in our society. Now this isnt to say that there arent a few people in St. Lucia with very strong beliefs in spirits and mysticism. Instead, what I am saying is that, endowments selling who do are often very secretive about it. Therefore, it would be very difficult for me to explain how those who believe in it have been able to pass it down from generation to generation.

Irene: Thank you so much Therold. I find this conversation fascinating and would love to take more time to chat with you. However, we need to end for now. Glenfinnan Viaduct has 21 arches, follows a curving path for 416 yards, and is 100 feet high. At the time of construction, it was the only concrete built viaduct the world had ever seen! Combining Harry Potter notoriety with the incredible views of Glenfinnan Monument and Loch Shiel make the viaduct an attraction all its own.

The Hogwarts Express plays a key role in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. In it, Harry meets Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, later to become his best friends, on his first trip in the Hogwarts Express. Much like many British boarding schools prior to 1950, Harry is put on the private train at the beginning of the semester and met again at the end of semester by his family (aunt and uncle). Other notable characters having scenes on the train include Neville Longbottom, Remus Lupin, Luna Lovegood, Draco Malfoy, and Horace Slughorn.

The Jacobite Steam Train is part of the West Highland Line or Iron Road to the Isles (Gaelic - Rathad Iarainn nan Eilean), which runs from Glasgow to Mallaig, and itself travels between Fort William and Mallaig weekdays from mid-May to mid-October, and weekends in June and July. Although the actual engine will not be 5972, the train is very much like that used in Harry Potter, and travels the route across the Glenfinnan Viaduct.

In 2008 it departs Fort William at 10:20, arriving in Mallaig at 12:25. Its return journey departs Mallaig at 14:10, arriving in Fort William at 16:00. Fares along the Fort William to Mallaig run range from 16.50 for a child standard round trip ticket, up to 43.00 for an adult first class return.

Reliving the Harry Potter magic by taking a trip on Hogwarts Express is a grand day trip. However, many would like some photos of the train while crossing the Glenfinnan Viaduct. It crosses near the Glenfinnan Visitor Centre about 11:20 and 15:00, though times may vary by several minutes, so plan ahead. The Glenfinnan Visitor Centre is just down the road from Fort William along the A830, and is readily accessible by bus or automobile.

The Jacobite Steam Train journey is one of the finest in the world, despite its brief 84 mile run. Its route is spectacular, passing many impressive sites in the region. These include Britain's tallest mountain Ben Nevis, its deepest freshwater Loch Morar, shortest River Morar, deepest saltwater Loch Nevis, and most westerly railway station on the mainland at Arisaig. Stations along the route include: Banavie, Corpach, Loch Eil, Glenfinnan, Lochailort, Beasdale, Arisaig, Morar, and Mallaig.
